“Lust´s passion will be served; it demands, it militates, it tyrannizes.” – Donatien Alphonse Froncois, the Marquis de Sade, Histoire de Juliette ou les Prospérités du vice (1797)
This quote heralds the fashion editorial of my graduate collection that was published in the UK Fault magazine in 2012. My collection seizes the subject of the japanese art of enchaining. The word Shibari is japanese and means tying or enchaining something aesthetically thereby it doesn´t concern cumpulsory the human body but more concerns the understanding for silhouettes, shape and the emphasis or rather cavity from specific areas or body parts. The challenge this collection is rising to is about withdrawing the sexual character from the clothing and making it wearable. It points out the aesthetic contouring of the body using body conscious silhouettes. Shibari shows a taboo issue which is directed into an ordinary and modern direction.
